WHERE
Christian Bible Church, a church affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, is looking for qualified ministry interns to join our church’s ministry efforts to “help people follow Jesus.” Our intercity diverse church is located in downtown Yonkers, NY, a city bordering New York City. Our church is in the heart of the mega-city of Metro New York City of over 22 million people.
This internship will place you on the front lines of cultivating a vibrant gospel centered church in the midst of one of the most post-Christian cities in North America.
QUALIFICATIONS
A Christian preparing for future vocational ministry
A member of a church currently
Completion of one year of college or seminary
Some ministry leadership experience helpful
Growing in Christ-like character, cross-cultural people skills, and a servant's heart
Willingness to raise all financial support to cover the cost of the internship

Summer Internship (June-mid August)

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
You will learn valuable ministry skills that will be transferable to a variety of pastoral, church revitalization, missionary, church planting, or other ministry contexts.Some specific learning activities include…
1. Cultural learning
You will learn essential cross-cultural skills by completing various cultural assignments to help you observe, understand and engage diverse urban culture.
2. Reading Assignments
You will learn by reading two books per month on a range of applicable topics, complete a book review, and meet weekly to discuss these books with the other interns and pastoral leadership. (see reading list HERE)
3. Ministry Development
You will learn about ministry development by either launching a new ministry or further developing an existing ministry within Christian Bible Church. Special emphasis will be placed on successfully handing off ministry at the end of your internship.
4. Participation in church life
You will learn about church life in a diverse, urban, post-Christian setting as Christian Bible Church functions as your home church during your internship. You will build relationships with church members, attend weekly services, join one of our small groups, and serve in at least one ministry of the church.
5. Pastoral mentoring
You will learn through direct mentoring / discipleship from the pastoral leadership of the church during all aspects of your internship.
6. Personal Reflection
You will complete weekly reflection assignments to help process what you are learning and develop transferable biblical principles for future ministry.
Your internship will occupy no more than 40 hours per week over 5 days per week.
LIVING ARRANGEMENTS
The specifics of your housing will be determined closer to your arrival based on availability and cost of local options. It may be a dorm type mission housing, or an apartment sublet, or living with a local family.
COST
The internship is unpaid so the cost of transportation, housing, insurance, and food you will have to raised by you. If accepted, Christian Bible Church will provide any needed guidance to help you raise your support.
COLLEGE / SEMINARY CREDIT
Our internship may qualify for credit at your college or seminary. If you seek credit for your internship, inquire at your particular school. Christian Bible Church will gladly work with your particular school in order to fulfill their requirements for credit.
